Dominican Republic gets failing grade in Web access
Santo Domingo.- Dominican Republic figures among the countries with the lowest scores in households with internet access in Latin America, EFE reports.
The recent report “The ecosystem and the digital economy in Latin America” by the Economic Commission for Latin America (ECLA) says the country was in fourth place among those with the lowest access to Internet.
The report, which measured 15 Latin American countries (2013 figures), said Internet access in urban areas doesn´t reach 40% of households, and just over 20% in rural areas.
The study notes that in Dominican Republic´s case rural areas have more internet access in households than those in urban areas.
