Dominican Republic announces rules for drone
Santo Domingo.- The head of Dominican Republic´s Civil Aviation Institute (IDAC) on Monday announced restrictions to operate drones over the country, to definitively regulate small remote-control aircraft.
Alejandro Herrera noted however that the regulation is temporary, and also innovative because the Dominican Republic is among the few countries which have submitted the initiative to the International Civil Aviation Organization ICAO.
The official said the provision obliging drone operators to obtain official authorization takes effect the next few days. “The persons who want to operate those gadgets have to come to this agency to obtain an operating permit.”
