Dominican Republic and Japan agree to help Haiti’s forests and farms
Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Government and Japan´s International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on Sunday agreed to implement the second stage of a project to train farm and forestry technicians in highland areas in Haiti (Proamoh 2).
In its announcement the Economy Ministry said the three-party cooperation project seeks to improve Haiti´s technical capacity in agriculture, through which small farmers in those areas an apply to implement the techniques for sustainable farming and promote agriculture´s expansion.
Inocencio Garcia, of the Economy Ministry, Cesar Dargam of the Foreign Ministry and Ismael Cruz of the Agriculture Ministry signed the agreement on behalf of the Dominican Government,
Resident representative Akihiko Yamada signed for JICA, in addition to Benito Ferreiras, president of the Santiago Technological University (ISA), in a National Palace ceremony.
