Dominican Republic and Cuba preparing tourism package for Chinese tourists
Santo Domingo.- More than a tough competitor in the coveted Caribbean market, Cuba-state owned airline Cubana de Aviacion sees in Dominican Republic a great opportunity to complement and enhance their “multi-destination” offer and increase the number Chinese tourists who visit the communist island-nation .
The prospect gathers even more steam with the start of direct flights between Beijing and Havana by the carrier Air China in late September, said Cubana de Aviacion commercial director Ramon Perez Camejo.
“As Air China will begin flying to Havana in late September with four operations (weekly), we’re preparing rates programs for the Chinese to come to Havana and continue the next day or a few days after to the Dominican Republic and visit two Caribbean destinations,” Perez said, quoted by acento.com.do
He said to promote a “multi-destination” offer Cubana has made efforts with the flagship airline of China, the world’s biggest source of tourists.
“We’ve been in talks with Air China since a while back to offer a rate from China to the Dominican Republic, through Havana; these packages always bring implicit visits to various tourist destinations,” said Perez, interviewed during the 19th annual Caribbean Tourism Exchange.
