Dominican manufacturers to promote cinema industry
Building on the work of the Dominican Films Cluster, the Association of Industries Dominican Republic (AIRD) and Lantica Media, formerly known as Indomina, have signed an agreement to support the development of activities to promote Dominican cinema. The initiative is part of an Inter-American Development Bank (IDB)-sponsored program that sees Dominican cinema as part of the nation’s branding. AIRD executive director Circe Almanzar and Antonio Gennari of Lantica Media signed the agreement.
In a statement, AIRD and Lantica say that the activities will include a study on the economic impact of the cinema industry in the DR, a consultancy for developing a comprehensive training plan, designing a film growth plan, creating a forecasting tool that can generate projections on the sector over the next five years, and identification of mechanisms to support the construction of country brand through film and a series of benchmarks, among others.
The Films Cluster is made up of members from across the value chain of cinema including the studios, producers, actors, writers, public and private support institutions, film critics, exhibitors, financing, distributors, technical providers and promoters.
