Dominican launches first motoconcho taxi service in New York
New York.- Dominican entrepreneur Dustin Rodriguez launched the first “motoconcho” (mototaxi) service in New York City, transporting passengers in the area of Manhattan´s Lower East Side, using the classic Vespa scooter, with a similar application as the Uber.
“Passengers are nervous during the first five minutes,” admits Rodriguez. “But then they start to feel that this transport is really fun.”
All “motoconcho” drivers in New York are licensed and provide a helmet for passengers at no extra charge.
The App, Rodriguez says, has a “setting-up” option which a user touches and immediately locates the nearest available scooter from the service database.
In his home country mototaxis are the country´s main means of transportation, despite their inherent risk.
