Dominican Billfish Triple-Header, Blue Marlin Classic & Marina Casa de Campo Cup

The nautical variety of “March Madness” is well underway here in Casa de Campo… where all action and excitement is going down at sea, with 22 international fishing boats taking part in not 1, not 2, but 3 fishing tournaments taking place right now in the Marina Casa de Campo!

That’s right – this week the Dominican Billfish Triple-Header, Blue Marlin Classic, and the Marina Casa de Campo Cup opened here in Casa de Campo.

However the undoubted star of the show is the 2nd annual Casa de Campo International Blue Marlin Classic, taking place from today Tuesday March 17th through to this Sunday March 22nd. “The event will bring together an international group of very experienced high level sport fishing anglers. Fishing has been very good so far, so a high number of catches are expected”, tournament organiser, Rick Alvarez, told Casa de Campo Living. In addition to some of the world’s best billfishing, the tournament also includes a cocktail party on Wednesday evening at the Casa de Campo Yacht Club, as well as the prize-giving and dinner at La Casita in the Marina Casa de Campo.

And with the start of the Casa de Campo International Blue Marlin Classic, comes the beginning of the Dominican Billfish Triple-Header – which as the name implies is a series of three tournaments. The first stage of the Triple-Header tournament is the Blue Marlin Classic, and the remaining two will take place in Cap Cana in June and September. “The aim of the Triple Header is to entice international boats to stay longer in the Dominican Republic.” Said Rick Alvarez.

Also taking place is the Marina Casa de Campo Cup! A permanent cup in which the boat with the most Blue Marlins released between March 15th and April 15th, will be named the winner. This Cup will have its home at the Casa de Campo Yacht Club and the name of the winner will be placed each year at the base of the trophy.
