Diagnostic errors caused 95% of dengue deaths
Santo Domingo.- Public Health minister Altagracia Guzman on Tuesday said the country has 11,359 suspected cases of dengue, and confirmed the number of reported deaths at 116 thus far this year, not 94 as her department had reported.
She said of 78 dengue fatalities, 25 were discarded and 16 unconfirmed because there was no data provided.
The official said the 25 deaths that were discarded as being dengue, were caused by the death of the mother, leptospirosis, malaria, pneumonia, diabetes, pneumonia, among others.
Guzman said 95% of the deaths was the result of diagnostic errors and the mishandling of liquids.
