DGII reminder to renew vehicle registration
Once again, Dominicans appear to be procrastinating when it comes to renewing their 2016 vehicular registration stickers (marbete). Two months into the process, collections have grown by 0.64% but renewals are slightly down in comparison with the same period last year. This year, 1,665 fewer vehicles have renewed.
Yesterday, Wednesday, 2 December 2015, the Tax Agency (DGII) reported that with only 32 days to go for the deadline for the renewal for 2016, some 297,539 vehicles have completed the process and RD$408.8 million has been collected.
The DGII recalls that from 1 October 2015 and until 8 January 2016 owners of vehicles can obtain the sticker by presenting a copy of the vehicles registration at any of the 456 offices for renewals and more than 700 locations around the country.
Not counting motorcycles, it is estimated that there are 1,559,932 motor vehicles of which nearly 1,000,000 are due to renew their registration this year.
