Demand of better services sparks protests across the North
Santiago.- Several protests were unleashed Wednesday in north region towns against what the organizers say is the government´s failure to solve the people´s demands such as better services of electricity, health, roads, water, among others, which officials don’t provide definite solutions.
From Santiago Rodriguez in the northwest border to the northeastern tip of Nagua, as well as central La Vega, San Francisco and Santiago, inhabitants express discontent and vow more protests to get their problems solve, as officials keep mum.
The most recent protests emerged in Santiago Rodriguez where a 24-hour work stoppage brought the town to a halt, as organizers say had the support of more than 98% of transport unions and businesses.
