Deadline coming up for motorbike/scooter owners to upgrade their number plates (placa)
Soon you can find your bike and money taken from you by AMET, not only for driving without a helmet, but also if your plate hasn’t been upgraded.
The deadline is the end of June, 2015. Go to the town hall (Ayuntamiento) with the following: your bike, your bike’s original ownership paper (matricula), copy of your passport or cedula and hand them your old plate. The process is free.
It pays to go there early in the morning between 7 – 9 AM, as they will only process about 20 people per day. Round 2PM you can return to receive a new matricula and number plate, and they’ ll place a small sticker on your headlight.
