Danilo calls for prudence and moderation during holidays
Because of the Holy Week, President Danilo Medina yesterday called upon the citizens to preserve lives and to cooperate with the relief organizations responsible for achieving this objective.
In a communiqué released by the Directorate of Communication of the Presidency (Dicom), the President said that everyone should be attentive to the objective of preserving lives during the holidays of the Holy Week.
“To everyone I wish to suggest to you that during these days, no matter what you have decided to do to occupy your time over the holidays, please act with greater moderation and prudence, guiding yourselves by the instructions of Operation Holy Week 2015, prepared in order to prevent situations that can put lives and properties at risk,” he said.
He insisted that the people take advantage of these days for reflection and to make concrete plans which will permit a greater welfare for everyone and his family.
He recommended commemorating the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ in an environment of seclusion and spiritual renovation in order to recharge new energies which will allow the strengthening of the purposes of life.
Medina said in his message that many people take time for vacations and to have fun in the most varied of atmospheres, making use of the enormous offer of beaches, rivers, mountains and resorts that abound in our geography, while other persons prefer to take advantage of the tranquility of the cities and countryside in order to rest and enjoy themselves in family in the immense peace that they can breathe.
The Chief of State insisted on calling for moderation among the citizens in the places they have chosen for their vacation over these days, but also on the highways. He called on them to prevent incidents which put human lives into danger. In addition he called for the preservation of property, both of those that vacation as well as those who remain in the city.
The 911 System, in use for the first time in Holy Week
The Minister of the Presidency, Gustavo Montalvo, reported yesterday that the 911 system is ready in order to provide efficient responses during the Holy Week holidays.
This is the first year that the National System of Emergencies and Safety 911 is incorporated in the special operation which the Center of Emergency Operations (COE) puts into effect each year in order to attend all of the people on these dates.
“We are carrying out their work of coordination with all of the institutions in order to guarantee order, security, and the protection of the population during this Holy Week,” said the official. He recalled the importance of the responsible use of this service.
