Court hearing date for Peravia Bank case
A National District judge has set the date for the initial hearing to decide the bail and pre-trial custody conditions for the president and vice president of the bankrupt Banco Peravia for 30 June 2015.
Jose Luis Santoro and Gabriel Arturo Jimenez Aray are currently in Venezuela and Miami and the decision will be forwarded to them via the Ministry of Foreign Relations.
Lawyer Manuel Bonelly, representing Jimenez Aray congratulated the judge on the decision and said that his client would come back to the country and explain why he left the Dominican Republic without advising authorities.
However, Santoro’s lawyer, Dr. Francisco Taveras, said that there was no international arrest warrant for this client and he could come back to the country at any time.
Santoro and Jimenez Aray are accused of abuse of trust and criminal association by Technology Services Group Corporation and US citizen Rodrigo Ramon Oruna Aguilar via his lawyer Cesar Amadeo Peralta.
In addition, Santoro and Gabriel Jimenez, as part of Peravia Bank are accused of several crimes together with brothers Nelson, Carlos and Jorge Serret and other bank executives with 35 complaints submitted to the Public Prosecution Service.
