Constitutional Court rules on Armando Casciati
The Constitutional Court has annulled a court order prohibiting the arrest and deportation of Italian businessman Armando Casciati who allegedly operated businesses promoting sex tourism in the country. Diario Libre reports that the Italian businessman owns several businesses in Sosua, including a hotel, a TV channel and several bars allegedly dedicated to prostitution, for which the Dominican authorities had threatened to deport him. Following the Constitutional Court order against Casciati, Attorney General Francisco Dominguez Brito called on the authorities to take measures to prevent foreigners from establishing themselves in the Dominican Republic to promote the country as a sex tourism destination.
