Centro Médico Bournigal runs an awareness campaign on Breast Cancer
PUERTO PLATA During the month of October, Bournigal Medical Center aims its efforts for the campaign against Breast Cancer. Currently, in the Dominican Republic each year hundreds of new cases of the disease are recorded and estimated that the risk of getting it is about one in eight women.
In view of this, on Friday, October 16th, a talk aimed at patients, employees to contribute to the cause by raising awareness of breast cancer. Dr. Milcíades Pérez Eguren, a recognized oncologist and surgeon of Centro medico, was giving a presentation with current statistics, causes of the condition, prevention, nutrition, care, how to live when suffering and the process of reconstructive surgery. During the lecture, he presented experiences of survivors from the disease in order to bring a positive message and fight for cure, overcoming fear and suffering. There was given an educational material on how to self-examine.
In a press release sent to the drafting of this media, it states that the Bournigal Medical Center performs various actions to support the cause by offering throughout the month of October 20% discount on mammograms to patients without health insurance, and insured patients pay no difference during October month.
