Cedimat Cardiology Center opens
President Danilo Medina recently attended the formal opening of the Cardiology Center (Centro Cardiovascular) at the Center for Diagnostics and Advanced Medicine, Medical Conferences and Telemedicine (Cedimat) at Plaza de la Salud in Santo Domingo. The Presidency describes the center as the most modern in the Caribbean. It was built over an area of 30,179 square meters and has a capacity for 180 patients. Cedimat board chairman Cardinal Nicolas Lopez Rodriguez expressed his appreciation for the government contributions that made the center a reality.
Dr. Cesar Herrera, director of the new center, stated that the hospital represented a new step forward for medical tourism while filling a gap in the training of heart specialists in the country.
Cedimat medical director Dr. Jose Yunen says the heart center will mark a turning point for cardiology in the country and will be a source of pride for Dominicans.
