Canadian Tourists Will Have More Options for Winter Travel to the Dominican Republic

Canadian tourists will now have more travel options to visit the Dominican Republic during the winter months.

Air Canada and West Jet airlines announced an increase in their weekly flights to Puerto Plata and Samana, both on the country’s north coast.

Air Canada announced that it will add an additional flight to its current two-flights per week on its Montreal-Puerto Plata route, beginning December 22, 2015, using an Airbus 319.

It will also increase to two weekly flights the Toronto-Puerto Plata route, beginning December 21, 2015.

Air Canada currently flies on Wednesdays between Toronto and Puerto Plata. In addition, it operates a Monday flight between Halifax and Puerto Plata.

Sunwing is another Canadian-based airline that flies to Puerto Plata from Toronto and Montreal.

The airline announced that it will go from two flights per week from Montreal, to three, beginning December 21, 2015.

West Jet

The airline increased its weekly flights from two to four on its Toronto-Puerto Plata route, beginning June 15.

In 2014 some 706,395 Canadian tourists visited the Dominican Republic through the country’s international airports. During the first four months of this year, that number registered at 411,913.
