Brugal sets a new standard for luxury rum presenting Papa Andrés
PUERTO PLATA Brugal & Company made the world premiere of Papá Andrés Edición Alegría, the second edition of rum exclusive private reserves out of their cellars. Of the 37 barrels this year could be extracted only 1,000 bottles, and in the country there will be sold only 100, the price is about 67,000 pesos. In the world every bottle will cost $ 1,500.
Defined by the great connoisseurs of the world of spirits as a real gem, Papá Andrés Edición Alegría was mixed by Jassil Quintana Villanueva, the only rum teacher who has had 127 years of experience with the Brugal family. Javier Mariscal, one of the geniuses of contemporary design decorated the bottle and designed the special packaging.
The decanter of the new edition of Papá Andrés was hand painted by craftsmen from Puerto Plata. At the launch of the new jewel, Augusto Ramirez Bono, president of Brugal & Company, highlighted the brand positioning in the premium and super premium segment, where it has achieved an increase of 9 basis points in just one year.
Ramirez said Brugal will continue to focus on the premiumización of its entire portfolio, to continue sharing with success in major world markets.
Brugal achievements in the premium segment have earned the best score of the parent company, the Edrington Group, in its latest annual report on overall performance.
In the report, the Scotsman holding company that acquired most of the shares of Brugal & Co, in 2008, highlights the brand access to large cities and capitals of the United States, Asia and the Nordic countries and the Dominican brand defines as valuable an asset “with an entire future in the international market for premium golden rum.”
Bono Ramirez said Dominican Republic is open with more than 200 brands and market presentations, which maintains a clear leadership of Brugal for nearly three decades. “Seven out of 10 consumers prefer our products,” he said.
“Today Ron Brugal is one of the most admired premium distillates connoisseurs. Brugal is the most important distillate in the Dominican Republic and one of the five brands of rum sold in the world.

The first edition of Papá Andrés, launched in 2013, was listed by Rum Masters Association as the best rum in the world in the super-premium category, the Ultimate Spirits Challenge 2013 awarded the gold medal for its aging and its crystal Bohemia received the President’s Trophy in the category of design and packaging of the International Spirits Challenge 2013.
