Brugal launches new rum
Edrington-owned Brugal rum is to release a new blend of Papa Andres, the most exclusive aged rum from the Brugal family’s private reserve.
The new rum is to be called Papa Andres 2015 Alegria Edition to symbolize the joy of living of the Dominican people. The new rum comes from the private reserve at the Brugal warehouses in Puerto Plata. Traditionally enjoyed only at important family celebrations, this private reserve rum came to be known as Papa Andres, in honor of the company’s founding father, Don Andres Brugal Montaner.
The company says that the new golden-amber colored rum has been created by master blender Jassil Villanueva Quintana, a fifth generation member of the Brugal family. Papa Andres 2015 Alegria Edition (40% ABV) is described as gentle on the nose, with a medley of fruity notes resulting from the marriage of rums aged in different types of oak casks.
Just 1,000 of the Brugal Papa Andres 2015 Alegria Edition decanters will be produced, priced at US$1,500 each, with all profits going to the Brugal Foundation that was established in 1988 to support development and reduce poverty in the Dominican Republic. It will be available to order from April 2015.
