At major hospital, 400 including doctors get paid without working
Santiago.- Public Health Regional director Dr. Austria de la Rosa on Monday revealed that some 400 people, including doctors, nurses and employees of Santiago´s Cabral y Baez hospital get a paycheck without working, and some of them even live abroad.
The official said the “bottles” (popular name for those who are paid without working) were identified by a Health Ministry audit conducted from July 8 to 23. “Everyone who has gone to the bank and has been unable to collect is because they´re on that list.”
In a press conference at the Public Health offices de la Rosa said nobody can provide nursing or medical services for another person. “In Cabral y Baez there were doctors who were charging but weren’t going there for centuries.”
Quoted by diariolibre.com.do, the official warned that the health sector´s new transparency won’t let those scandals continue.
