Armed robbery on a Metro Bus
Diario Libre reports an eyewitness account as retold on the morning radio talk show El Sol de la Manana yesterday, Monday 30 November 2015, of an armed robbery of a passenger on a Metro Bus travelling from Santo Domingo to Santiago. Four men purchased tickets and when the bus was passing through Villa Altagracia they drew their guns and told the passengers that they were not targeting them, saying it was just a narcotics issue. A backpack was removed from one passenger and the men got off the bus and boarded a waiting vehicle. According to the witness, the backpack owner and the driver later stopped to report the incident to Metropolitan Transport Authority (Amet) agents on the highway and continued on to Santiago. The passenger said that the bus continued its journey almost as if nothing had happened.
Police spokesman Maximo Baez Aybar later confirmed reports of the incident. He said they were working to identify the four men and the passenger who was robbed.
