American Airlines adds new route to Puerto Plata

Puerto Plata – With the arrival of flight 1918 from Charlotte, North Carolina, American Airlines launched its second route to the Gregorio Luperon International Airport (AIGL) of Puerto Plata.

Upon arrival, the A319 aircraft with capacity for 124 passengers, was met with the symbolic arch of water, in the presence of executives of Dominican Airports Century XXI (Aerodom), American Airlines, representatives of the public sector and members of the airport community.

Enrique Pacheco, director of operations AIGL said: “We are very pleased to announce the start of the Charlotte-Puerto Plata every Saturday route, since it is a major boost to tourism development in this location, while diversifying the air connection to and from the United States. ”

Hector Martinez, general manager of American Airlines in Santo Domingo, Puerto Plata, Santiago and La Romana, said the new route from Charlotte, North Carolina to the Gregorio Luperon International Airport is a sign of the importance of the Northern region tourism in the country and for the airline.”

Upon arrival at AIGL passengers and crew were welcomed to the rhythm of a contagious Perico Ripiao, received a memorable souvenir, and they enjoyed a welcome toast  offered by Ron Macorix.
