AMAN Opens Luxury Boutique Hotel in Playa Grande, Puerto Plata
This world-famous luxury hotel chain recently opened its Amanera Resort & Villas luxury boutique hotel, in Playa Grande, in the country’s north coast region. The hotel is situated some 60 minutes from Puerto Plata’s international airport and 35 minutes from Samana’s international airport, on the country’s northeast region.
The complex consists of 25 beachfront villas, featuring a spectacular 18-hole golf course.
This is the first AMAN complex in the D.R., the second in the Caribbean and the fourth in Latin America. It is also the first of the famous chain linked to a golf course. The resort rates average US$2,000 per night.
The resort features a beautiful beach, overlooking the majestic Atlantic Ocean, a gymnasium, a spa, indoor and outdoor restaurants, wine bar, lounge and library. The hotel also offers its guests a wide variety of activities.
The chain plans to build 400 residential units surrounding the beautiful ocean-front golf course. In the background, the complex is surrounded by cliffs covered with lush tropical vegetation.
“Playa Grande” Beach
The Amanera Resort is situated on the “Playa Grande” beach, which is surrounded by the country’s north coast mountain range.
Situated in one of the most spectacular regions of the country’s north coast, the Amanera complex consists of individual villas known as “Casitas” (or small homes).
The complex offers guests five different types of “Casitas,” all with ample terraces, outdoor and indoor dining areas, and all are strategically located to provide guests with the most spectacular views.
Some “Casitas” feature private swimming pools and high ceilings. All provide guests with the utmost when it comes to privacy, and ample space for family groups.
Rates may vary from US$2,000 to US$4,000. The rates will vary depending on the season.
The menu of the resort’s main restaurant features mainly organic dishes. The restaurant has a terrace overlooking the beautiful golden sands of “Playa Grande.” It also features very high ceilings and large panoramic windows to ensure guests enjoy the beautiful outdoor scenery. The restaurant’s bar is strategically situated on the second floor.
Also available to guests is Beach Club restaurant and the restaurant Golf Course Restaurant.
The Amanera Resort is now home to one of the most spectacular golf courses in the world (7,085 yards), with ten of its 18 holes situated between the terrain’s stunning cliffs and oceanfront.
The golf course was originally designed by Robert Trent Jones, and recently redesigned by his son Rees Jones. Its clubhouse is equipped with a fine restaurant, a pro shop and a gymnasium.
The resort offers guests specific spa therapies that are influenced by Dominican healing traditions. The spa uses plants and herbs that are grown locally, as well as the traditional natural products identified with the AMAN luxury chain. The spa offers guests therapeutic and relaxation massages, facials, body scrubs and body-wrap treatments. All are based on the holistic approach used worldwide by the chain’s Spa Journeys brand.
The more active guests can enjoy the beautiful hiking trails and visit the nearby nature reserves in the area. There are guided nature tours, led by experienced guides.
Also available are private classes for various water sports. The classes are designed for all levels and ages. “Playa Grande” is an excellent destination for the most popular water sports, such as kayaking and kite surfing.
