50% of Tourists Visiting the Dominican Republic Are Under 35
According to recently released statistics, 50% of the tourists who visited the country through its international airports in 2015 were under 35 years of age.
During this same time period, the country’s tourism industry experienced a healthy six percent growth in comparison to international tourism growth.
The data states that 36.8% of all international visitors who chose to spend their holidays in the Dominican Republic were between 21-35 years of age.
More information reveals that 8.7% of international visitors were between the ages of 13-20 years of age and 4.3%, between 0 and 12 old.
Recreation was the main reason stated by 94.8% of all tourists for choosing the Dominican Republic as a travel destination, while 93.6% stated that same reason in 2014.
During the first half of the year approximately 2.5 million international tourists visited the Dominican Republic through its international airports, 143,000 more than in 2014.
At the same time, 338,000 Dominican nationals living abroad also visited the country during this same time period. In total, the number of international visitors peaked at 2.8 million, a reported growth of 7%.
