17 US citizens arrested in Sosua brothel raid
Puerto Plata prosecutors are interrogating 23 people, including 17 US nationals (16 men and one women) accused of people trafficking for prostitution in the Agua Dulce development in El Choco, Sosua. During the raid, 29 women were released from the center, including several minors. Puerto Plata prosecution office spokeswoman Mariel Vasquez said that they would be ordering pre-trial detention for several of the suspects. US Embassy officials, Police Criminal Intelligence Department officers and agents assigned to the Sosua Police Command took part in the operation.
