11 million pesos will be invested in the sanctuary of manatee of Estero Hondo
PUERTO PLATA The Ministry of Tourism (MITUR) and Carnival Corporation, will invest 11 million pesos in retrofitting and maintenance work of the Marine Mammal Sanctuary of Estero Hondo in the municipality Villa Isabela, west of Puerto Plata, the ecosystem is home to manatees, marine mammals that are endangered.
According to the article published on: infoturdominicano.com, it is explained that the project involves the construction of view points, improvement and construction of access roads, as well as a program of preservation and conservation of manatees.
Delivery of financial funds is scheduled for the coming days, which will initiate the work of the project managed by the Ministry of Tourism and Carnival Corporation.
The Sanctuary of Marine Mammals of Estero Hondo is located in the municipality of Villa Isabela, in the western part of the province of Puerto Plata, it has been certified with the seal of Dominican Treasures.
