U.S. tourists boost Dominican Republic tourism to record growth
Santo Domingo.- Tourism minister Francisco Javier García on Sunday said 14.5% more tourists arrived in April than in the same month last year, for Dominican Republic’s highest growth ever.
He said the 445,018 non-resident visitors who came to the country by air last month are 56,433 more than the same month last year, a 14.5% jump.”We’re more and more surprised with the results we’re getting with tourists arrival. We reached the historical growth of 14.5% last month, the highest percentage in history.”
García said the country received 1,841,675 non-residents visitors by air during the January-April period, for 106,037 additional tourists compared to 2013,” which means a cumulative growth of 6.1%.”
The official said the countries which posted the highest number of visitors to Dominican Republic were United States, which grew 21.9%, Germany (25.7%), Venezuela (77.1%), Puerto Rico (86%), Colombia (82.9%) and Spain, 24%.
