Truth: Dominican Republic tolls among LatAm’s highest
Santo Domingo.- Even without the announced increase, Dominican Republic’s road tolls figure among Latin America’s highest, despite the fact that their supposed low cost has been sold as an “undisputed truth” for years.
The compilation by outlet eldia.com.do refutes recent statements by several officials that the country enjoys some of the world’s lowest road tolls.
The concession system on new roads doubles the region’s highest average, Chile, at five dollars per 120 kilometers. The Northeast Motorway, the Atlantic Boulevard (Las Terrenas), the Coral Highway and Santiago’s Beltway are currently in that status.
The entire circuit totals 331 kilometers and motorists must pay RD$1,188 (around 27.5 dollars), of an average of 10.18 dollars per 120 kilometers.
