The biggest bank “Popular” turns 50 today
Santo Domingo.- It was January 2, 1964, 50 years ago today, when Dominican Republic’s now biggest bank opened its doors, and it did so with the promise to democratize the country’s financial services.
News outlet elcaribe.com.do, affiliated with the Popular, says the bank “spurs the population to save and invest in society’s key sectors, earning it its three million customers today.”
It said Popular continues to promote social inclusion and economic development, a vision which benefits the country that continues half a century later. “Ever since, Popular has been a cornerstone to write and develop thousands of success stories which have transformed the country, as a catalyst for projects underpinning the nation’s economic growth.”
