Teachers advocate for comprehensive sex education to reduce teen pregnancies

Santo Domingo.– The Dominican Teachers Association (ADP) on Sunday defended the inclusion of comprehensive sex education in order to reduce teen pregnancy, school dropout and sexually transmitted infections such as human papilloma virus (HPV) and HIV.

“We do not need more laws for this, because it is a constitutional right, also established by the Code for the Protection of Childrenand Adolescents and the Convention on the Rights of the Child,” said ADP president Eduardo Hidalgo whilw addressing hundreds of teachers who attended the rally ”44 Hugs for Education” held at Parque Independencia.
