Talks with Haiti will continue on 20 March
SANTO DOMINGO. The third round of talks between the Dominican Republic and Haiti will take place on 20 March in the town of Jacmel, reported Gustavo Montalvo, the Minister of the Presidency and coordinator of the Dominican commission.
He said that this time the issues of health, immigration and tourism will be the priorities. They could end with the signing of agreements between the authorities of the two countries.
“We have managed to achieve a constructive dialogue on issues that affect our peoples, searching to find real and lasting solutions, always based on mutual respect for one’s sovereignty. Now no one doubts that this is the road that our countries should travel, that of the good neighbor,” said Montalvo.
The official stressed the importance of the conversations that have already borne fruit in the six agreements signed with Haiti in Jimani.
He made it clear that at first the meet was set for the 12th, but it was postponed by mutual agreement due to the visit by the Vice-President of the United States, Joe Biden, to the country next 12 March.
The first meeting was in Juana Mendez and the second in Jimani, in the province of Independencia.
