Talks between Haiti and Dominican Republic continue in Juan Dolio
SANTO DOMINGO. The bi-national dialogue between Haiti and the Dominican Republic will continue today in Juan Dolio, in San Pedro de Macoris, where officials from both nations will discuss issues of common interest.
This is the third formal meeting that the national authorities and the Haitians will hold with the objective of reaching agreements that permit a greater and improved collaboration between the public and private institutions of the two countries.
The Dominican delegation is headed by the Minister of the Presidency, Gustavo Montalvo, and the Haitian side will be led by their Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe. Up until now they have managed to go forward with the signing of nine agreements in different areas.
During the 3 February meeting in Jimani, they signes six agreements on issues such as security, drug trafficking, agriculture, customs, immigration and environment; while in the meeting of 8 May they signed another three agreements in the areas of health, commerce and tourism.
The Dominican government said this week that it is happy to receive the Haitian delegation.
