Sosúa citizens marching for the start of hospital construction
Sosua – . A large crowd marched this morning from Los Charamicos to the center of Sosua in protest for initiating the construction of the promised Sosua’s hospital.
Community leaders, organizations and representatives of the Catholic Church in Sosua, Gaspar Hernandez, Puerto Plata walked about two miles under the hot sun, all in unison demanding that the president begin the constructio of the hospital in Sosua.
“It’s an embarrassment to the authorities and politicians of this town, that Sosua does not have a hospital ,” said the priest Bernardo Vásquez in front of the angry crowd screaming throughout the march with signs in hands, “we want a hospital”, ” no piebald ” and ” We need a hospital for Sosúa “
The chief of the Fire Department of the municipality, Oscar Luis Gómez said that last year the institution he represents made more than two hundred trips on his ambulance , transferring emergency patients to the municipality of San Felipe Puerto Plata and up to Santiago de Los Caballeros.
Benito Vasquez and Bernardo Castillo, representatives of the Catholic Church and the organizers of the application, indicated that this march is just the beginning of many , ” we will not complain and protest the day you start our hospital,” they concluded to the people with posters in hand.
