Some 300,000 passengers expected in December at AILA
LAS AMERICAS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT. Aeropuertos Dominicanos Siglo XXI (Aerodom) reported that close to 300,000 passengers, among them overseas Dominicans and foreigners, will move through the Los Americas International Airport during the current month of December, a growth of 3% in operations, surpassing the numbers from last year. The information was offered by the director general of Aerodom, Monika Infante, who pointed out also that during the Christmas season some 2817 flight operations to and from overseas will take place through this air terminal.
The number includes the additional flights which the different airlines program for the Christmas season in order to satisfy the demand in the flow of passengers which during this period increases through the Las Americas terminal, from different points overseas.
It is expected that the greatest number of flight operations and flow of passengers will come from the United States, Puerto Rico, Spain and other European nations were there are colonies of Dominicans. Infante indicated that all the airports handled by her company are ready to receive the avalanche of passengers that occurs during the Christmas period, especially the overseas Dominicans that return to the country to reunite with their families in order to enjoy the holidays.
