Santo Domingo Beltway construction advances
Santo Domingo.- Public Works minister Gonzalo Castillo on Monday said construction on Santo Domingo Beltway’s advances in the span to Haina Port, and would be open to traffic next February.
During a tour with reporters to supervise the roadway, the official said the work in many sections is on schedule and ready for paving.
He said the work aims to decongest traffic in the National District and Santo Domingo province and lower transport costs, specialy freight from the ports at Haina and Caucedo, in Boca Chica.
Castillo said crews totaling around 300 work in seven sections, in shifts 24-7.
In a statement the Public Works Ministry said the first span will save time of around 1 hour and 15 minutes, and lower fuel consumption.
