Santiago Beltway 80% complete
Santiago.- Public Works minister Gonzalo Castillo was in the city of Santiago yesterday in a tour along the Northern Beltway to see how it’s progressing, and affirmed that it’s 80 percent complete.
He called the work “monumental” and “one of the biggest ever built in the history of Santiago.” He announced the roadway’s ribbon-cutting for the end of February. “We have a commitment to Santiago to hand over this work as scheduled and for this reason Public Works director Ramón Antonio Pepín will be living here until it is delivered.”
Castillo also said t several access roads will be built to satisfy local Santiago communities which have staged recent protests. “Once we finish this road, we’re going to meet their demands to new access roads.”
The 26 Km Northern Beltway, which has 4 lanes and 34 overpasses, will allow motorists to bypass Santiago when headed to La Vega at the south or Puerto Plata to the north.
