Salary increase this month for the military
SANTO DOMINGO. Starting on 25 January the salary increase will go into effect for all of the members of the Armed Forces, including the professionals attached to the military.
The information was offered yesterday by the Minister of Defense, Admiral Sigfrido Pared Perez, who explained that with this salary increase President Danilo Medina fulfilled his promise made to the military personnel. He had said that starting at the beginning of 2014, it would be a government priority to substantially increase the salary of the members of the Armed Forces.
The salary increase for the military will be 10.75% for major generals;10.31% for brigadier generals and rear admirals; 12.9% for colonels and Naval captains; 13.98% for lieutenant colonels and Naval commanders; 18.08% for majors and Naval lieutenant commanders; 13,33% for captains and Naval lieutenants; 24.21% for first lieutenants and lieutenants junior grade; and 19% for second lieutenants and ensigns. All cadets will receive a 13.77% increase for Naval cadets and 4th year cadets. Third, second and first year military cadets will receive 12.88%, 11.94% and 10.93% respectively.
Likewise a 25.31% increase will to sergeants major; 41.32% to sergeants A & C; 32.5% to sergeants; 26.3% to corporals and 14.41% to privates, specializes sailors and the naval auxiliary and 7% to the adjunct military personnel.
Pared Perez said that with this increase the quality of life for the military will improve.
