Remember that school classes begin today, Tuesday, Jan.7th
SD. The Ministry of Education reminded people that today is the start of classes in the 11,000 public and private schools all over the country. In the meantime, the Dominican Teacher’s Association reported that its members would be in the classrooms at the very beginning of the school day on Tuesday.
Since last week the authorities have been reminding parents about the renewal of classes in order to avoid what happens every year, which is the loss of a week of classes after the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.
Minister Carlos Amarante Baret reiterated for teachers, students, parents and administrative personnel, that they should make good use of their time, returning to their work at the very start of the school day.
According to information supplied by the education authorities, they are expecting the return of 2,710,832 students that make up the national educational system, including the private schools and the semi-official centers.
For their part, the Dominican Teacher’s Association (ADP), in the voice of their secretary general Maria Teresa Cabrera, said that they will be in the classrooms on the seventh (today), just like every year.
She made it clear that normally it is the parents of the students that do not send their children to the schools.
“This bad habit belongs basically to the families; they have to guarantee that the boys and girls go to school,” she finished.
