President Medina addresses the UN assembly on September 24
SANTO DOMINGO. President Danilo Medina will deal with the issue of “development policies,” in his speech this afternoon at the 69th United Nations General Assembly which is being held in New York.
The Dominicans can see Medina’s speech live through a network of television stations, digital newspapers and through the webpage of the Presidency www.presidencia.gob.do, by cell phone and tablets, which total 30 cable channels and 27 digital pages.
Although the Presidency has not reported the exact time of the Presidents speech, nor its duration, sources have said that it will be around 4 o’clock in the afternoon.
The Communications Department reported that the televised media which want to join the network, can do it by getting into contact with the signal of the galaxy 17 satellite, at the 11,962 frequency, with horizontal polarity, and the symbol rate 3.214; FEC3/4; modulation QPSC and MPEG 2 compression.
Before the reporters that cover the presidential Palace and the officials that want to see President Medina speech a giant screen will be set up in the Orlando Martinez Hall.
Medina met yesterday with the president of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, at United Nations headquarters. Officially no information was given as to what they talked about, but it was said that they dealt with bilateral issues.
In a similar manner, the Dominican President met with Queen Maxima Zorreguieta of the Low Countries (Holland). President Medina talkedto her of the possibility of formalizing an agreement of commercial exchange between the Dominican Republic, Aruba, Curaçao and St Maartin.
Another meeting held by the president yesterday was with the well-known economist and University professor Jeffrey Sachs, with whom he talked about different topics.
Medina also received a visit of the US financier and investor of Hungarian descent George Soros, with whom he talked about his interest in learning about the Normalization of Foreigners Plan in the country.
