President allocates funds to renew coffee plantations
Santiago.– President Danilo Medina on Sunday announced the allocation of RD$30 million for the renovation of coffee plantations and the production of passion fruit, in Juncalito, Santiago.
The President’s Office said via Twitter that the renovation of the coffee plantations will be developed in three years and the funds will serve to restore 5,000 hectares, while the credit granted for growing passion fruit will help farmers to plant nearly 1,500 hectares.
“Now we need to convert the coffee you have, for a coffee that can resist rust,” said Medina.
