Police Brutality: Patrol shoots at a woman inside her home in Cabarete
PUERTO PLATA A 26-year-old was hit by two bullets in both legs by members of a National Police patrol in the district of Cabarete, which has been taken by the population to the point that qualified this as an abuse and an excess of authority by the police.
The lady assaulted by police officers, was identified as Erika Margarita Pérez Martínez, who lives in the Callejón de la Loma in Cabarete sector. She allegedly resisted being arrested and attempted an attack with a knife at the agents of police who shot her without words at close inside his home, leaving her stranded in a pool of blood.
Pérez Martínez was shot twice with entry in the left leg and right thigh by a sergeant not identified who is assigned to the supervisory of the National Police in Cabarete. The victim he was rushed to a private health center of Sosúa where he received first aid before being referred to the hospital Ricardo Limardo Puerto Plata where she was left hospitalized.
Eyewitnesses to the incident condemned the abrupt manner in which the agents of the police tried to force Erika Margarita Pérez Martínez out of her home, without a warrant, they shot her in the legs cold-bloodily, left her lie in pain in a puddle of blood, and escaped the scene cowardly.
The National Police agents opened fire at Seniora Pérez Martínez since she fared over the soldiers with a machete-called “tail”, caused resistance to arrest order, which was issued by the tax attorney of Sosua; Maribel Reynoso licensed to discuss matters with the person named Josefina Garcia.
