Over 250,000 Dominican households cook with wood and coal
Santo Domingo.- Over 250,000 Dominicans households use firewood and charcoal to prepare food, an action that significantly leads to the degradation of forests in the national geography.
According to Energy and Mines minister Pelegrin Castillo, despite the advances in the use of LGP and other fuels, the use of firewood and charcoal still persists as the fuel for preparing food in many homes.
“It is no secret that even in these modern times, more than 250,000 Dominican families, who mostly live in marginal areas, use wood and charcoal as fuel to cook their food. We have to find a solution to this problem,” said Castillo.
