Northwest poised to launch its tourism on ‘remarkable’ attractions
Mao, Dominican Republic.- Tourism minister Francisco Javier Garcia on Sunday said the Northwest has at least 24 attractions to offer and launch its tourism development.
He said Tourism conducted a study which identified the region’s attractions and will soon work with all agencies in the province and the region to carry out other studies. “The Northwest has remarkable beauty; it’s time to focus our efforts to promote development.”
Garcia said the industry’s contribution to economic development produces around US$5.0 billion each year, adding that tourism is at its best time of the past 40 years, with a jump he affirms is close to 10%.
The official spoke on the topic “The Northwest socioeconomic Perspective and tourism potential,” before the Valverde Province Chamber of Commerce and Banana Growers Association.
