New York leads Dominican Republic link with 150 weekly flights
New York.- An average 150 weekly flights link Dominican Republic with New York, the city with the most flight connections to the Caribbean nation, just with JetBlue, Delta and United airlines, revealed Northwest Tourism Office director Lucien Echavarria.
He said with more than 70, Santiago’s Cibao leads the six international airports with most flights, followed by Santo Domingo, 65; Punta Cana, 30; Puerto Plata, 7: La Romana, 3 and Samana 2.
“Determining the number of visitors only from New York State isn’t easy since many passengers going to the Dominican Republic from our airports make stopovers at other points, but we’ve determined that our country reached an average of 150 weekly flights with Jet Blue, United and Delta Airlines,” the official said.
He said among the other states with high air traffic to the country figure New Jersey and Massachusetts, with a total of 25 average flights from Newark Liberty and Boston Logan airports.
Echavarria spoke prior to a baseball game at Yankee Stadium, where the Tourism Ministry hosted a special promotion with several activities as part of the country’s ad campaign abroad.
