Motorists fume as 500 gas stations shut pumps
Santo Domingo.- As promised on Monday, the owners of gasoline stations affiliated to the national association (Anadegas) adhered to the call to shut their pumps starting 6am Tuesday and until 2pm.
Anadegas made the call Monday to protest against the Government for the jump in fuel prices, but the shutdown just peeved motorists even more, as the price of gasoline soared during the last six months.
Anadegas claims that suppliers short-change them when the pay for gasoline whose price is calculated at a higher temperature which they affirm balloons its volume, which is reduced once it cools.
The gas station owners said around 500 affiliates are taking part in the shutdown.
