Medina inspects RD$2.0B progress on 9-1-1 Emergency System
Santo Domingo.- President Danilo Medina on Monday inspected the facilities that will house the integrated 9-1-1 emergency system, Presidency chief of staff Gustavo Montalvo announced today.
He said around RD$2.0 billion have been spent on the System, of which 40% are donations from various nations, the U.S. among them.
The control center located on Lincoln Av. was the former headquarters of the Presidency’s Information and Communication Technologies Office (OPTIC-).
Medina issued an executive order naming the emergency system a high national interest, aimed at using communications technology to effectively coordinate Dominican Republic’s first responders.
