Jolly Roger Bar & Grill tup in flames
Monday morning, March 17, 2014 at about 7:20 am passers-by saw smoke coming from the Jolly Roger restaurant. Moments later, they saw a sea of flames from the kitchen setting, and the rest of the restaurant on fire. They immediately called the fire department that arrived 15 minutes later and were able to prevent the adjoining lounge and restaurant to go up in flames. Unfortunately Restaurant Jolly Roger could not be saved. Whether there is malicious intent behind the fire that is not known but this incident is seriously being investigated by the police. Jolly Roger Bar & Grill is located in the main street of Sosua – Pedro Clisante # 11.
Jolly Roger Bar & Grill is known as a home to the expat community. Jolly Roger has always done a lot for the community, like organizing bingo afternoons, poker tournaments, darts competitions, karaoke nights, quiz Sunday, Canada Day and street parties. And always supporting charities like the Sosúa Kids, Mustard Seed, Cadmis School in Sosúa Abajo, Monkey Jungle and Judy’s Pet Lodge (AAAS). It is a great loss to Sosúa. We hope Jolly Roger will be quickly rebuilt and its activities for the benefit of expat society and charity organizations can continue.
