JCE president says Danilo does not have Naturalization Law ready
SANTO DOMINGO. The president of the Central Electoral Board (JCE), Roberto Rosario, said that he talked with President Danilo Medina regarding the proposal of the Naturalization Law.
“I have been present at the latest meetings, and so far no proposal has been worked out by the President which could go towards what you guys are indicating,” he said.
He indicated that before travelling to El Salvador, last Friday, he met with President Medina, and in this meeting the President told him that he is studying the different points of view in order to submit the legislative proposal, so that at the present time there is no clear cut legislative proposal.
Regarding the invitation to talks issued by the Inter American Commission of Human Rights next 24 March, Rosario said that the Chancellery is the institution authorized to represent the country.
He reiterated that they will fully comply with sentence 168-13 issued by the Constitutional Tribunal, and he stressed the importance of the Plan for Legalization of Foreigners.
Rosario spoke about these issues during the presentation of the newest edition of the International Magazine “Issues of Democracy” corresponding to the first quarter of the year, where he said that this publication is “markedly skewed in favor of things Dominican, nationalism and the Constitution of the Republic.”
The presiding magistrate of the Constitutional Tribunal, Milton Ray Guevara, was present at the activity, but he refused to talk about the report of the United States State Department, and other positions regarding the sentence on nationality.
