Japan fests ties, gives US$5.0M in hybrids to Dominican Republic
Santo Domingo.- The Embassy of Japan donated hybrid vehicles worth US$5.0 million to the Dominican Government, Deputy Foreign minister José Manuel Trullols announced Thursday.
Japanese Embassy commercial attaché Yuji Takeya said the donation of the new generation vehicles forms part of his country’s efforts to bolster the friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries.
He said the vehicles have a low environmental impact and consume less fuel, which in his view contribute to Dominican Republic’s sustainable development, reducing pollutants and greenhouse gas emissions.
Trullols thanked Takeya for the donation and noted that this year marks the 80th anniversary of Japan-Dominican Republic diplomatic ties.
