Ministry of Interior and Police open office in Puerto Plata for naturalization of foreigners
PUERTO PLATA On Monday, September 1st, the office was opened for the reception of documents from foreigners with an immigration status not defined in the National Plan for the Regularization of Foreigners.
This office was built next to the headquarters of the provincial government of Puerto Plata, and according to the director of the Center for Information and Technical Director of the Ministry of Interior and Police; Mr. Manuel Montero, the formal opening will be next Tuesday, September 9, in the presence of Mrs. Gov. Eridania Llibre Ortiz.
Montero said that on instructions from the President Danilo Medina, they opened an office to regulate foreigners’ immigration status in the country and that together with the Puerto Plata, there were offices opened in Mao and Constance.
Such action is realized after the July 11, dozens of foreign nationals mostly of Haitians marched from the courthouse to the government of Puerto Plata, demanding that the Ministry of Interior and Police, start in this province Plan of Regularization of Foreigners.
These foreigners were represented by the head of Human Rights and Advocacy Training Center and Social and Agrarian Action (CEFASA); Claudio Urrutia, who explained that this mobilization is done in view of the Executive promulgated by Decree 327-13 dated November 29, 2013 the National Plan for the Regularization of Foreigners will last a year from implementation .
